The Second Annual Lone Butte Fish & Wildlife Association (LBFWA) family fun day was a good time, says organizer Jude Dion.
“Of course, it rained during the weekend, but that didn’t stop the kids from fishing or enjoying themselves. We had 22 kids enter the fishing derby.”
Between 40 and 50 people, including the children, attended the weekend event held at No Name Lake. Everyone caught a fish, Dion says, adding it’s not only about the fishing, as it’s also about having a fun weekend with the family.
Keeping the weekend fun was the secret fish-length prize, where the winner gets to pick anything they wanted from the prize table.
The secret length was 12.5 inches and Cole Allan was the first one to catch a fish that long. He chose an inflatable kayak.
Dion says there were four or five children who caught the magic length and they all got to choose a prize.
“We gave prizes to every kid who brought a fish in to be measured. They would rush in get their fish measured and then get right back on the lake.”
The rain stopped for a while Saturday afternoon, he says, just in time to enjoy the great dinner of hotdogs and hamburgers, cooked by Allan Chamberlain.
“I want to say thanks to everyone who helped out with the firewood, weed-eating, cooking, cleanup, kids’ games, and everything else. Thanks to all who came out and had fun.”
