The Maple Ridge Ramblers Grade 8 girls basketball team took third place at the W.A. Fraser tournament in Abbotsford last weekend.
The girls won their opening game 32-10 over Clayburn Middle school of Abbotsford.
It was the first game in three weeks where the entire team was able to play, and it showed.
Jade Lenton was named player of the game.
In the second game, the Ramblers ran into a buzz saw from Lord Tweedsmuir and were no match for the more experienced Panthers, losing 52-7.
Allison Jakeway was named Player of the game for the Ramblers.
The battle for the bronze medal was a rematch with the perennial power from Brookswood.
The Ramblers were able to handle the trademark full court press from the Bobcats, and won a tough 21-17 victory.
Point guard Shontel Baker was named player of the game.
