The Overlander Pub Rock Rangers fought off a feisty Hellraisers club to win the Red Dog Slo-Pitch League Icebreaker title Sunday.

The Rock Rangers, on the strength of back-to-back multiple-run innings in the sixth and seventh, walked away with a 17-5 victory.

The Hellraisers battled through to the final after beating the Throw Togethers in its first playoff matchup.

The contest for third place saw the Rippers — who’d earlier lost a close contest with the Rock Rangers — and the Throw Togethers square off.

The Throw Togethers used heavy bats to score four runs in the fifth inning to take a 12-7 win.

Teams at the Red Dog Slo-Pitch League Icebreaker Tournament began in two round robin pools of five clubs.

The top two teams from each round robin pool went on to play the playoff rounds.

League president Lisa Bowering said several people helped make the tournament a success.

“Thanks to Lindsey Gasparini of the Red Dog Pub for the use of the fields and George and Sherry Broomfield for putting together the concession.”
