The Regional District of Nanaimo Parks and Recreation is holding a pickleball tournament May 26-27 that will feature 36 mixed doubles teams, 18 men’s doubles teams, and 18 women’s doubles teams.

The two-day event will be held at the Howie Meeker Ice Rink, which has nine courts available. There will be three round-robins and then teams will move to A, B and C double knockout flights.

Ernie Pallot of the OPC Pickleball Club, which is helping organize the event, said participants will have a lot of playing time. He said it’s an interesting game and is encouraging the public to come out and watch.
