The Grand Forks valley has many runners who can be seen out pounding the pavement at various times of the day. Some are spotted in the early morning hours getting their run in before work or later in the evening.
Regardless of the time, it is great to see the community exercising and staying healthy. The Kettle River Runners were established a few years ago to offer a group run to the community. The runs vary each week and the distance and times depend on how you are feeling that day.
The runs are held every Tuesday afternoon between 5 and 6 p.m., usually starting and finishing at the Grand Forks Aquatic Centre parking lot. The group will be starting the fall runs on Tuesday, Sept. 11. There is no membership fee and all running levels are welcome.

Call today to register for the Station-to-Station Run. Grand Forks Recreation (GFREC) has re-instated this great scenic run route for those ready to run the 10-km loop. The five-km loop includes a few hills and pavement with a little Trans-Canada Trail thrown in.
The run will start and finish behind the Station Pub at 5:30 p.m. sharp on Tuesday, Sept. 25. This is just a fun evening run to help kick off the start of a great fall running season. The Kettle River Runners will be on site to offer information about their weekly runs.
The Station Pub will be offering a special prawn night. To register for the run, please stop by or call the recreation office.

Let’s not forget what Terry Fox did for the country and for cancer research. He was determined to help make a difference for others who suffer with cancer and he managed to do just that. Help celebrate the 32nd annual Terry Fox Run by coming out and walking, running, biking or blading the eight-km course.
The event will start and finish at the Grand Forks Aquatic Centre on Sunday, Sept. 16. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. with the run starting at 10 a.m. Pledge forms are available at the recreation office, Value Drug Mart or Pharmasave or you can do a one-time donation to the foundation.

Regular stretching can help keep your body moving and mobile as we start the aging process. Gisela Ko offers stretching for mobility on Tuesday afternoons from 1 to 2 p.m. and again Friday mornings from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. She has adapted the stretches so chairs can be used as support. The fall schedule begins on Friday, Sept. 7.
