The challenging race around Lasqueti Island is set to hoist it sails again soon.

The 2019 BMW Lasqueti Island Regatta, hosted by the Schooner Cover Yacht Club, take places May 31 to June 2 at Fairwinds Marina in Nanoose Bay. The race (41 nautical miles) around the island, takes place June 1.

“The Lasqueti Island Race has become very popular with racers since it was first implemented in 2012 and it attracts some of the largest boats in the Vancouver Island Racing Series, as well as very fast and nimble smaller boats and multi-hulls,” said Peter Milne, regatta chair.

Boats from the Mainland that want to position their boats during the week prior to the race will be provided moorage.

Aside from the race, skippers and crews will be treated to meals that include a barbecue and music on Friday night, May 31, and hot chili after the race on Sunday evening, June 1. The event wraps up with the awards ceremony on June 2.
