Held under relatively cool temperatures and a partly sunny sky, Sunday’s 16th annual TRI-IT Triathlon had a reflective feel to it.
Six months after the passing of TRI-IT advocate and former Langley City Councillor Dave Hall, the triathlon now includes the Dave Hall Classic Division (60-plus age group) in his honour.
The event – which included laps in Al Anderson Pool followed by cycling and then running on the roads around City Park – had categories for youth ages 5-14, adults, seniors, and relay teams of up to three people. Prizes were awarded to the first place male and female participant in each age category.

Kids 5-7 (37 participants)
1st Oliver Sada, 2nd Pavle Mladenovic, 3rd Nicole Tomlinson (first among five- to seven-year-old girls)
Kids 8-9 (39 participants)
1st Ashlyn Adams, 2nd Bodhi Matthew, 3rd Bernardo Sada
Kids 10-11 (16 participants)
1st Nate Funke, 2nd Quinn Funke, 3rd Jacob Tamashiro. First place 10-11 girl was Yasmin Bath, who took sixth overall.
Kids 12-14 (16 participants)
1st Wyatt Scnare, 2nd Quinn St.Pierre, 3rd Matt Trent. First place 12-14 girl was Serena Bath, who ended up fifth overall.
Adults 15-plus (43 participants)
1st Mark Schurch, 2nd Benjamin Schmidt, 3rd Alan St.Pierre. Top placing female was Renee Agnew, who finished sixth overall
Adults 15-plus relay teams (10 teams)
1st June Parapini, 2nd Questionable Runner, 3rd Lisa Janzen
Dave Hall Classic 60-plus age group (six participants)
1st Jack MacDougall, 2nd Brenda Lightfoot, 3rd Marg McGuire-Grout.
