Stuck landings, high time of flight and great team spirit helped the Revelstoke Acrobats achieve their best results in more than a decade at the Western Canada Cup held in Port Moody last weekend.
The best trampoline and tumbling athletes from the four western provinces were in attendance and we had 21 athletes travel to this meet.
Revelstoke now can boast they have four athletes that are the best in Western Canada. The gold medal winners were Karsyn Powell in level one trampoline, Ruby Serrouya in level one double-mini trampoline, Ruby Ryga in level two double-mini, and Summer Novakowski in level three double-mini.
Madeleine Hobgood also made the podium, placing third on double-mini trampoline. Just missing the podium in fourth place were Sani Supinen, Alyssa Bollefer, Will Harasym and Isabella Mendonca, whose amazing scores allowed her to mobilize to the national level.
Mendonca and Harasym are now ready to make the jump to the national stream for next competitive season. For this event, Summer Novakowski was selected to represent Team B.C. because she was one of the top double-mini athletes at the other competitions held early in year.
In the team final event for double-mini, the team of Devyn Gale, Parker English, Mendonca and Harasym earned the top spot.
This event was run by Gymnastics B.C. and each club had to do their part to help make the competition run. Our acrobats parents put in more than 80 hours of volunteer time. Thanks you so so much for supporting your great athletes.
The team spirit, smiles, great routines and personal bests made this an amazing end to our competition season.
