The Revelstoke Aquaducks were champions for the second meet in a row this past weekend in Golden. While both the girls and boys teams placed second overall, Revelstoke was first in points with 47 athletes in attendance. This meet was slightly larger than usual as several teams from the Kootenay Region (and a team from Washington state) attended to add to the competition.

This was a particularly difficult meet since the swimmers were fresh off Challenge Week, which included a four-practice day, several challenging sets, new dry land activities, and long days of training. Adding to the difficulty in Golden was the one hour time difference, an outdoor pool, some rain, a lot of sun and a few sunburns. Despite all of this, and without a day off since the July long weekend, the swimmers pushed through fatigue and soreness for many best times, aggregate medals and an overall team victory.

The following Aquaducks received aggregate medals on the weekend:

— Kenadie Stefura, 1st, Division 1 Girls

— Autumn Griffith-Doyle, 2nd, Division 2 Girls

— Bence Berkenbosch, 1st, Division 2 Boys

— Kayln Gale, 3rd, Division 3 Girls

— Kale Jay, 3rd, Division 3 Boys

— Megan Hoshizaki, 2nd, Devyn Gale, tied for first, Division 4 Girls

— Alex Jay, 1st, Division 4 Boys

— Brynn Hoshizaki, 2nd, Division 5 Girls

— Nolan Gale, 2nd, Division 5 Boys

— Bailey LeBuke, 3rd, Division 7 Girls

This coming weekend the swimmers have earned some much deserved rest ahead of the Okanagan Regional Championships in Kamloops from Aug. 6–7. There, the Aquaducks will aim to either make the Provincial Qualifying Time, place top three in any individual event, or top two in a relay team, which will qualify them for the BC Provincial Championships in Coquitlam from August 19-21.
