The 21st annual Little Bear youth soccer tournament was held Sept. 8 and 9 in Revelstoke with 46 teams from B.C. and Alta. participating.

Revelstoke teams had a strong showing with 3 silver medals, a bronze and the fifth team narrowly missing a bronze medal in an exciting 4-3 game.

Local teams represented in the Girls U11, Boys U11, Girls U13, Boys U14 and Girls U15 categories.

Tournament organizer Alan Chell said the out of town teams just love coming to Revelstoke with our hospitality, scenery, facilities and the friendly tournament format. Some of the added bonuses for the youth are the skills competition and Saturday night pool party.

Chell compliments the Parks and Recreation Department for an outstanding job in preparing the fields.

“They really care about the fields and they have the expertise to create perfect playing conditions,” he said in a news release.

As well, both the Revelstoke adult and youth referees provided excellent refereeing over the weekend and he also thanks the referees from the Kootenays and Shuswap who came to help out.
