By Matt Kieller, RSC Nancy Greene coach
The Revelstoke Ski Club had another successful weekend of racing for RSC’s Nancy Greene program. 17 racers represented Revelstoke over the weekend at Silver Star. The Revelstoke racers faced stiff competition, with over 120 E1’s (8 and under) and nearly 75 E2’s (9-11), from clubs such as Vernon Ski Club, Sun Peaks, and Harper Mountain.
Conditions were extremely soft, and the course was quite challenging, simply making two successful runs through the finish line an accomplishment. The racers were not phased, as we are fortunate to ski soft snow on a regular basis.
I think this was an impressive showing by our small contingency of racers (Sun Peaks entered 40), it was the best of both worlds for our Revelstoke racers we got to rip up the course for half the day, and ski powder the other half.
Our next race will take us to Kicking Horse Mountain Resort near Golden this Saturday, Feb. 25.
