The Revelstoke U11 Boys Development team traveled to Vernon on Sunday to play against Vernon and Salmon Arm. The first game of the day was a tough battle against Vernon. Vernon’s quick passes forced our team to work especially hard to shut down each attacking play, and we were reminded of the importance of team formation on the field. Nelson Luxmoore was able to score a goal, but even though the team played well, there was lots to be learned in this 5-1 loss.
Fortunately the lessons learned from our morning defeat were put to use in the afternoon game against Shuswap. The boys widened their game and used supportive passing plays to generate opportunities on the field. With solid passes and a stronger shape, the boys were able to post a 3-0 shutout against the Shuswap team. Rogan Campbell, Francesco Morrone, and Thomas MacDonald were the boys who found the back of the net, and it is thanks to the teamwork and grit of all the boys on the U11 Development team that everyone went home with a smile.
U14 Boys fall to Penticton
This past Sunday the U14 Boys Rep Soccer team travelled to Penticton to play a very strong, undefeated Penticton side. This was our biggest challenge to date. Penticton plays year round, training within their own soccer academy and dedicated indoor facility.
Despite a strong effort our boys suffered their first loss. It was a bit of an eye opener after our early season success. Despite the loss we came away with an appreciation of the things we need to work on and a resolve to improve on the result when Penticton has to travel to play us June 6.
This upcoming weekend see’s the boys play in Kamloops on Saturday and then our first of seven straight home games on Sunday, May 10, at 1 p.m. at the Centennial Park Grandstand Field. Come out and support our side in what should be a competitive game against Kamloops.
