Revenge for Thunder over Lakers

One week after their worse loss of the season, the Langley Thunder exacted a measure of revenge, winning their rematch with the Burnaby Lakers 7-5.

The senior A lacrosse team hosted the Lakers on Saturday night at the Langley Events Centre.

The Thunder also hit the road on Sunday, but could not extend their winning streak, falling 11-10 to the Maple Ridge Burrards at Planet Ice.

Langley has a 2-4-1 mark in the Western Lacrosse Association.

Against the Lakers, Langley scored the game’s first four goals and never looked back. Athan Iannucci scored three times in the win, while John Lintz, Kyle McEwen, Rob Van Beek and Alex Turner had a goal apiece.

Brodie MacDonald stopped 40 shots in the win.

Against Maple Ridge, Iannucci gave Langley a lead, with his second goal and sixth point, with 7:18 remaining, but the Burrards tied the score a minute later and potted the winner in the last minute of play.

Kerry Susheski, Kyle Belton and Turner all had two goals apiece and Patrick Saunders and Andrew Potter tallied one goal each.

Langley faces Burnaby once again on Friday (June 17), this time at the Bill Copeland Arena.
