Kelowna’s Samantha Richdale finished tied for 62nd place at the CN Canadian Women’s Open in Edmonton.
One of only two Canadians to make the cut at the Royal Mayfair Golf Club, the 29-year-old Richdale carded an 8-over par score of 288 (70-70-75-73).
“You know, I thought it was awesome,” said Richdale, who was supported throughout the week by her mom and dad who made the trip to Edmonton. “It’s fun to be able to play in Canada. We only have a limited amount of opportunities to play here per year, and to have my family come out is pretty nice.”
Richdale, who has been playing this season on the Symetra Tour, earned at exemption into the Canadian Open thanks to a victory earlier this season on the Canadian Tour.
On the Symetra Tour, she is currently ranked 24th on the money list with two events remaining next month.
Palahniuk 7th at seniors
Kelowna’s Lynda Palahniuk tied for seventh spot at the Canadian senior women’s golf championship last week in Vernon.
Palahniuk, a former B.C. senior women’s champ, finished at 12-over par 225, 12 shots back of Aurora, Ontario’s Mary Ann Hayward.
Kelowna’s Melanie Grant had her best finish at the national championship, tying for 11th place at 17-over 230/
Meanwhile, Palahniuk’s first two rounds of 73-77 were good enough for third place in the Super Senior division of the tournament.
