Riders leave mark on motocross season

Local motocross racers drove away with a ton points this summer.

The British Columbia Motocross Association (BCMA) season came to end in Quesnel Sept. 6-7, and riders from Lac la Hache and 70 Mile are now sitting pretty high on overall points lists.

Connor Szatmari, of Lac la Hache, finished first after eight races in the BCMA South’s 50cc (4 to 6) division. Mason Szatmari was second place in that division.

In the BCMA North series, C. Szatmari finished second overall, while M. Szatmari came fourth.

Lac la Hache’s Brad Perron raced to fourth overall, out of 26 riders, in the BCMA South’s Schoolboy category.

In Junior MX-2, Perron made second overall out of 54 riders. In Junior MX-3, Perron raced to third overall out of 42 riders, picking up points in seven races.

In the North series, Perron finished third of 39 in Junior MX-3, third of 45 in Junior MX-2, and sixth of 29 in Schoolboy.

Clayton Wride of 70 Mile finished ninth of 16 in Intermediate MX-2 in the BCMA North series. In Intermediate MX-3, he raced twice and finished 12th overall of 27.

In the South series, Wride rode to third place of 17 in Intermediate MX-2, and second of 18 in Intermediate MX-3.

Tyler Glover of 70 Mile raced to 13th overall after running four races in Junior MX-2 in the North Series. He was 10th in Junior MX-3.

In the South series, Glover came fourth overall in Junior MX-3. In Junior MX-2, the 70 Mile driver finished fourth of 54.

As a race in Kamloops (set for Sept. 20) was cancelled, the Quesnel event was the last of the season, with the awards’ banquet slated in the coming weeks.

In Quesnel, C. Szatmari won first overall on Sept. 6 and third on Sept. 7.

M. Szatmari was sixth on Sept. 6. and sixth Sept. 7.

Wride was third on Sept. 6 and fourth on Sept. 7.

Perron had some bad luck in Schoolboy on the first day and bent a rim on his bike, finishing fourth in one race and not finishing the second, earning 11th place overall on Sept. 6. He borrowed two bikes to finish off the day and only went fast enough to finish the race and pick up points.

On Sept. 7, Perron finished third overall after two races, placing first in the second moto.

In Junior MX-3 on Sept. 6, Perron finished 11th overall. In Junior MX-2 on Sept. 6, he finished fifth overall. On Sept. 7, Perron finished second overall.

Glover raced to sixth overall in Junior MX-3 on Sept. 6.

On Sept. 7, Glover was sixth.

In Junior MX-2, Glover was fourth overall. He came fifth on Sept. 7.
