Ridge’s Fridge gets B.C. team

Daren Fridge of the the Ridge Meadows Minor Lacrosse Association will coach pee wee 2015 provincial box team.

The British Columbia Lacrosse Association has announced its six head coaches for the 2015 provincial box teams.

Daren Fridge of the the Ridge Meadows Minor Lacrosse Association will coach the pee wee team.

Fridge is best known for his work with the Maple Ridge Burrards of the WLA, where he was the coach, and is now general manager of the resurgent team.

The provincial association puts together six box lacrosse teams and six field teams.

They will compete at the national championships against other provincial selects teams.

The midget and pee wee nationals will be held on Aug. 1-9 in Whitby, Ont.

“The head coaches we have selected all come from rich lacrosse backgrounds and have prior experience with the Team B.C. program,” said Team B.C. technical co-ordinator Darcy Rhodes. “We are confident they will successfully take our athletes to the next step of their long-term athlete development, with the hopes of capturing gold at nationals.”

Tryouts for the boys teams will be held on April 25 at Pitt Meadows Arenas. The females will be May 22 at the Langley Events Centre.
