Ritchie rink tops men’s spiel

Gary Ritchie’s team of Hugh Bennet, Cliff Hosker, and Randy Durand won five straight games on the way to winning the annual Men’s Bonspiel.

Gary Ritchie’s team of Hugh Bennet, Cliff Hosker, and Randy Durand won five straight games on the way to winning the annual Men’s Bonspiel.

In the final game, they defeated Dave Long’s team by scoring five points in the seventh end to lock up the win.

In the B event, Al Mostrovich was two up coming home and ran Gord Duplisse out of rocks in the B final.

In the C event, Erich Breitkreuz gained revenge from an earlier loss to Wayne Merwin by stealing one point in the seventh end to be three up coming home, and ran Merwin out of rocks.

Glen Archer (Kamloops) defeated Gary Lillies (Sicamous) in the D event in an extra end.

In the E event, Paul Cseke (youngest team in the bonspiel) took an early lead over Tom Kratchmer (Enderby) and never let up.

This was Cseke’s first Men’s bonspiel and the team was proud that they could compete so well.

In the F event, Gerry Jones recovered from giving up five points in the second end to being two up coming home, and Vern Stevens was unable to make up the deficit.
