The Terrace River Kings are entering the Central Interior Hockey League (CIHL) playoffs at first in the west with 25 points after splitting a pair of games on the road last weekend.
The Kings won against the Lac La Hache Tomahawks 5-3 on Saturday night before losing 6-3 to the Quesnel Kangaroos on Sunday.
That puts the River Kings at 25 points – just one point ahead of Smithers Steelheads, who won one and lost one against the Prince Rupert Rampage over the weekend, and tied for first overall in the league with the Williams Lake Stampeders, who still have a game in hand.
The eastern division has a couple of games to play this upcoming weekend before the regular season officially wraps up.
But beginning Jan. 25, round one of the western playoffs are set to begin, with the River Kings facing off against the Rampage in Prince Rupert – with game two, and three if necessary to be played in Terrace.
Smithers will meet the Kitimat Ice Demons in Kitimat, with game two, and three if necessary to be played in Smithers.
UPDATE: It’s been confirmed that the Houston Luckies, who were expected to play make up games against Lac La Hache and Williams Lake this weekend, have cancelled those two games, ending the regular season. Williams Lake is first overall. The eastern playoffs should see games between Williams Lake and Lake La Hache, and between Quesnel and Houston.
