The Terrace River Kings are running their first hockey camp for youth this year.
Set for August 14-19 at the Terrace Sportsplex, the camp includes both on-ice and dryland training for youth ages 7-16.
The aim is raising money for the team and training more young players, said Ross Smith, general manager of the Terrace River Kings.
Training will be done by the River Kings players and coaches, as well as Ian Alger, a hockey player who grew up in Terrace and now lives in Calgary.
The River Kings tryouts will follow later in the fall, and the team will play a 16-game schedule with more travel than prior years now that the Smithers Steelheads dropped out of the Central Interior Hockey League (CIHL) for the season.
