River Run returns to Englishman River trails June 12

10k and 5k events will raise money for salmon habitat restoration, watershed protection

Runners and walkers are invited to enjoy the scenic trails of Englishman River Regional Park while helping aid in the restoration of salmon habitat in the sixth annual River Run June 12.

The event, hosted by the Mid Vancouver Island Habitat Enhancement Society, offers the choice of a 10-kilometer run or a 5-k trail run/walk, beginning at 10 a.m. in the park, at the end of Allsbrook Road in Parksville.

Registration fees will help support MVIHES efforts at conservation and restoration of salmon habitat, estuaries and shorelines in the region.

Prizes will be offered to top finishers and snacks and refreshments will be provided by Thrifty Foods.

Registration fees are $30 for adults or $20 for students and seniors. Children 14-under accompanied by an adult are free. Pre-registration is available online through June 9 at www.TheRiverRun.ca. In-person registration and race kit pick-up will take place Friday, June 10, from 4-8 p.m. outside Thrifty Foods in Parksville, and day-of-race registration will be available prior to the start of the run, in the gravel parking lot at Englishman River Regional Park.
