The Okanagan Rockets will be sporting a fresh look to start the 2011-2012 schedule at home against the Greater Vancouver Canadians.
The Rockets, along with the 10 B.C. Major Midget Hockey League teams, will all have an updated look for the coming season. The look was well received by both players and staff
“I’m really excited about these jerseys” said Rockets veteran forward Mat Lambert of Vernon. “They are a really nice change.”
Rockets GM David Michaud echoed Lambert’s comments.
“I’m really pleased with the work the league put into these jerseys,” said Michaud. “I’m a real traditional guy and I love the classic stripes they gave us. It was a little nerve-racking because we knew they were coming, but we weren’t included in the design stage. I was a little nervous that they would come back with some radical new design, but I think they did a great job freshening it up, while staying true to our roots.”
The Rockets will take to the ice in their new jerseys for the first time. Sept. 24-25, against the Canadians at the Capital News Centre.
The Rockets, who will likely have a handful of Vernon products on their roster, will face the Vancouver Island Thunderbirds Feb., 11-12 in league play in Vernon.
