The Spokane Braves travelled to Golden last weekend to take on the Rockets.
Even though only two goals were scored during the game, it kept an intense pace against the American team, with the Golden Rockets winning in a 2-0 shutout.
In the first period, Janson Pashniak scored the first goal with assistance from Louis Ferraro and Jack Fairfield. Ferraro scored the second and final goal of the night with Fairfield and Pashniak again. Neither of the teams were able to score in the third period, and goalie Jacob Bennet kept all of the goals out of the Rockets net.
On November 24, the Rockets headed south to Sparwood to play against the Fernie Ghostriders in a high-octane and unpredictable game.
The first period started out scoreless with Ryan Baker defending the Rockets net from the Ghostriders. The Fernie Ghostriders were trying hard to get a goal in on Baker with 18 shots on goal. The Rockets only managed five shots on goal against the Ghostriders.
The Rockets scored the first goal of the night in the second period by Colton Hutchinson with an assist from Louis Ferraro. The Ghostriders retaliated with a goal against the Rockets, but they bounced back from the tie quickly, with Bryce Trimmer sinking the puck in their net with an assist from Samuel Lussier and Riley Egan, ending the second period 2-1.
The Ghostriders refused to go down quietly, scoring another goal in the third period, tying it up 2-2 and taking it into overtime, which didn’t see any results. In second overtime, the Ghostriders were able to get a goal in against the Rockets, winning the game 3-2.
Next, the Golden Rockets will travel to Princeton to take on the Princeton Posse on November 30, and will play a handful of away games before returning to home ice to take on the Fernie Ghostriders once again on December 8 at 7:30 p.m. in Golden.
