The Golden Rockets have announced the addition of defenceman Sam Lussier to the roster for the 2018/19 season.

Last season, Lussier played with the Revelstoke Midget Grizzlies as well as five games with the Rockets during his 15-year-old season.

“Sam is a hard working, character kid. His coaches, teachers, principal, and multiple groups he has done volunteer work with all share the consistent message as to what a driven and passionate young man he is. When we talk about the type of people we are bringing in to establish our culture, Sam fits the bill,” said Rockets coach Jeremy Blumes. “Sam skates well and competes hard. There will be an adjustment to playing junior hockey, however, we believe his intangibles will certainly help with that learning curve.”

As the Rockets strive to be a program that develops players and moves them on to higher levels, Lussier is a candidate for that type of advancement.

The Golden Rockets continue to add to their roster during the offseason adding three forwards from Alberta.

“I believe all three of these young men have high ceilings; with hard work and dedication playing to their strengths I am confident these players will be big parts of our team as the season moves along,” Blumes said.

Riley Egan, Jayden Hendrix, and Janson Pashniak are the latest recruits added to the roster with the main camp only a month away, opening August 24 in Golden.

“I am grateful for this opportunity and will bring my passion and work ethic to the Golden Rockets and look forward to being a part of the Rockets family and community. I am a team player and want to be a part of the future success, can’t wait to get started,” Egan said.

Egan scored 13 goals along with 23 helpers for 36 points in 29 games in the Northern Alberta Midget Hockey League last season. Egan has solid offensive instincts and fits into the mould of dedicated, hard working Rockets.

“I’m looking forward to playing in a new place with new people,”Hendrix said.

Hendrix had 14 goals and 8 assists in 32 games in the South Central Alberta Hockey League while utilizing his tremendous size to his advantage in all three zones.

Pashniak is a skilled centre and right wing that potted 14 goals along with 17 helpers for 31 points in 32 games in the Northern Alberta Midget Hockey League last season. Pashniak has a nose for the net and the ability to play a complete 200 foot game.

“I’m excited to be a part of the Golden Rockets organization because at their spring camp in Calgary, I was very interested in what Coach Blumes was going to bring to this team, and when I was offered a commitment, it wasn’t a hard decision based on what I heard during my weekend at camp. I’m excited to develop in Golden, not only as a hockey player, but as a person,” Pashniak said about why he joined the Rockets.

The Golden Rockets Main camp opens August 24th to 26th, players that are interested in competing for a spot can register online at www.goldenrockets.com.
