The Kelowna Rockets snapped their six game losing streak with a 2-0 win over the Evertt Silvertips Friday night. The Silvertips, have the second best record in the WHL, and had previously beat the Rockets 4-2 on home ice Jan. 9.

Mark Liwiski got the Rockets energy going 45 seconds into the game when he dropped the gloves with an Everett player. The Rockets got some incredible goaltending from James Porter who stopped all 40 Everett shots.

Michael Farren opened the scoring for the Rockets right into the second period, but it was Mark Liwiski again who continued the momentum for the Rockets has he netted his third of the season to give the Rockets a 2-0 lead going into the third period. Alex Swetlikoff got his first WHL point on the assist.

The Rockets were out-shot 13-2 in the third period as Everett pushed back, but James Porter was there to hold on to the shut out.

The win couldn’t come at a better time for the Rockets who haven’t won a game since Dec. 29, and needed a boost as they return to home ice to host the league-leading Prince Albert Raiders Saturday night.
