The 2011/12 KIJHL season is ready to get under way, and the Golden Rockets are off to a good start.

They have won two out of their three exhibition games this year, the latest being a 6-2 victory over the Columbia Valley Rockies.

“I’m really happy with the way things have started, the team looks good,” said Rockets president Curt Thorne. “I’m excited to see what’s going to happen this year.”

Their other two exhibition games resulted in another win over the Columbia Valley Rockies (7-3), and a 5-3 loss against the Kimberley Dymamiters.

The season will officially kick off when the Rockets host the Rockies in the home opener on Friday at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door, $7 for seniors and students, $5 for kids ages six to 12, and free for children under six.

The next two games will be played on the road, first against the Columbia Valley Rockies on Saturday, then they will square off against the Creston Valley Thundercats on Sunday.
