The Golden Rockets took on the Kimberley Dynamiters on December 14.
In the first period, the Dynamiters scored the first goal, but Briar Whyte retaliated, bringing teddy bears raining down on the ice as part of a fundraiser. More than 150 teddy bears were donated to local children at the Rockets game on Friday evening.
At the end of the period, the score was tied 1-1, and local figure skater Sierra Gelette put on a show during the intermission for fans in the crowd.
Kicking off the second period, the Rockets were on fire with Bryce Trimmer scoring the next goal from Whyte and Terrell Vekved. The Dynamiters came back to score another three goals, ending the second period in a 4-2 score.
Going into the third period, the Dynamiters were able to score another goal before the end of the game, winning against the Rockets 5-2.
The next night, December 15, the Rockets faced off against the Fernie Ghostriders once again.
The Ghostriders were able to get three goals in on the Rockets in the first period, and the Rockets remained scoreless going into the second period. The Golden Rockets were able to score one goal by Brendan Sime-Vivian from Whyte in the second bringing the score up 3-1 for the Ghostriders.
Working hard not to be defeated by Fernie, Janson Pashniak scored the next goal from Shawn Grobowsky. Tying up the game, Trimmer scored the third and final goal for the Rockets, assisted by Riley Egan.
The heated game went into double overtime, but neither team was able to score, ending the match in a 3-3 tie.
