Rocks fly at Doug Bothamley Memorial open cash spiel

More than $10,000 in cash was divided up, with Kelowna taking first place and top dollar, followed by Castlegar and Nelson.

Curlers came out for the 2015 Doug Bothamley Memorial open cash spiel hosted by the Nelson Curling Club. Twelve teams from Kelowna, Castlegar, Creston, Kimberley, Fruitvale, Cranbrook, Rossland and three from Nelson bid for the $10,050 in cash prizes.

The three day tournament final was held on Sunday with Kelowna winning $2,100. The Castlegar Niohol team won $1,400, placing second in the “A” event. The Cutler team from Nelson placed third, winning $1,400 and was the “B” event winner.
