Roller derby returns to the Comox Valley

Roller derby is back in the Comox Valley this week.

Roller derby is back in the Comox Valley this week.

The Brick House Betties and junior team, Stone Cold Stellas, are excited to host two games at home this season. The first event is Saturday, April 29 at Glacier Gardens on the Comox base, and the second is June 10 at the Comox Valley Sports Centre in Courtenay.

The Stellas and Betties are excited to introduce a new audience on base to the dynamic sport, as they have not played that venue before.

Each event this season will be a double-header, with the first game played by junior derby teams comprised of skaters 12-17 years, and the Betties in the second game. Bring the whole family to a fun night at the roller derby, a competitive contact sport played on wheels. Enjoy the games, merchandise tables, and concession.

Doors open at 5 p.m. Entrance is $10 adults, $5 youth and free for those under 10. Cash only please.

The first game is 6 p.m., second game is 8 p.m.

On Saturday, Stone Cold Stellas junior roller derby will take on Nanaimo’s Candy Crushers and the Brick House Betties will skate against Nanaimo’s Harbour City Rollers Ship Rex. The Comox Valley is invited to watch this fast-growing sport and cheer for the home teams.
