Rolling with the Rockets: Ryan Baker

Golden Rockets goalie Ryan Baker stopped 28 out of 29 shots on goal to earn a 4-1 victory against the Kamloops Storm on December 28.

Golden Rockets goalie Ryan Baker stopped 28 out of 29 shots on goal to earn a 4-1 victory against the Kamloops Storm on December 28.

When he was younger, he was always playing hockey at the outdoor rink with his friends and family, and has had a pair of skates on his feet since he was six years old.

Baker came to Golden because he saw a great opportunity to be a part of the Golden Rockets’ turnaround.

He sees himself as a leader vocally and visually, and is always setting a good example for his teammates, especially the younger players who look up to veterans like himself.

This year, Baker plans to continue his journey through junior hockey, and hopes to land a spot on a Junior A team in the future.

“[Baker] has been critical to our success this season. He gives our team a chance to win every night with his athleticism, hockey IQ, and above all else, competitiveness,” said Golden Rockets head coach Jeremy Blumes. “It’s a pleasure coaching this young man. He is focues, and has that burning desire to get to the next level. [Baker] came from one of the top junior programs in Canada, the Brooks Bandits, and he has been a humble and key player in our season’s success.”
