The Royals responded, scoring two quick goals to tie the game at three. The Stars regained the lead thanks to a two-man advantage.

The hosts continued to take advantage of the turnovers offered up,  adding two more goals and widening the gap to three. Team captain Dallas Stewart added his team-leading eighth goal late in the period.
