Steve Brown, owner of Peach City Runners and Adventure Sports in Penticton announced today the inaugural running of the Steven King 100- kilometer Classic Relay and Ultra, British Columbia’s only 100-KM road running race. It is set to make a resounding debut this year with an incredibly scenic course starting in the Similkameen town of Princeton and finishing in the Okanagan town of Summerland.

Long time Okanagan resident and ambassador, Steven King, is being honored for his years of dedication to ultra sports by having his name title the race that will run on Sept. 15, 2012. The course consists

of the Kettle Valley Railway trail bed at the start in Princeton and over the first leg, where it rejoins the old Princeton Summerland Highway and then continues onto to Chain Lakes where the road turns to gravel until the decent off Bald Range coming into Faulder and then into Summerland where it finishes in Memorial Park. Athletes can compete in either the 100-KM ultra marathon as a solo athlete or work in a team consisting of two to eight runners for the relay.

This route is also used as the Ultraman Canada running course. Check the Penticton Western News for more on this story.
