Ryan Piva scored a hat trick as the Nelson Leafs doubled the Grand Forks Border Bruins 4-2 at home on Friday.
Piva scored a goal in each period and added an assist while Trail Thompson scored a single for the Leafs (3-0-0), who are undefeated through three games to start the young season.
The hat trick gives Piva five goals and six points in just two games.
Nathan Cohen-Wallis and Zane Avery replied for the Border Bruins (1-2-0).
Nelson next faces the Beaver Valley Nitehawks tonight at the Nelson and District Community Complex.
