A bottle drive fund-raiser has been planned for a family who lost their patriarch to a rare and aggressive form of cancer.

So, save the bottle collection you’ve accumulated over the Superbowl weekend.

“If there’s one thing this town can do, it’s to help make a hard time easier for a local family,” the bottle drive’s organizer, a good friend of the family, said.

“Let’s bring it together and help out.”

The bottle drive is for the family of Keith Skramstad, who died recently, a short time after receiving a cancer diagnosis.

Skramstad leaves behind his wife Lisa, and daughters Tori and Hannah.

“Lisa’s the nicest person in the world,” the organizer said, of the long-time local resident. The bottle drive is to be held at Saywell Park, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, February 20.

Early drop off spots will be available, as well as door pick up for anyone who is unable to drive.

Island Savings Credit Union has set up account 2131171 for any cash donations.

For more information on the bottle drive, the organizer can be contacted by e-mail at forthegirls2011@hotmail.com, or through phone at 250-510-1441.
