With great games out of the gates and an exciting race through the last paces, the annual Comox Valley Curling Club Ladies’ Bonspiel was once again a big success.
The 22-team competition was themed Run for the Roses: Kentucky Derby, Comox Valley-style, supported by local businesses that helped make it a fun weekend.
“We’re so thankful for the support of all the players – local and from out of town – the volunteers, and most importantly, the many businesses who donate to make this a great event each and every year,” said Cheryl Sellers, bonspiel chair.
A event winners were Team Schopp (Campbell River): Loni Schopp, skip; Cynthia Lu, third; Marita Martel, second; and Dana Dawson, lead. They beat Team Hack (Grande Prairie/Comox Valley) in the final Sunday.
The Reese-Hansen Rink of Courtenay won the B event, the Schultz Rink (Courtenay/Campbell River) won the C event and
the Jonsson Rink of Courtenay were D event winners.
