Ryan Sclater took home three awards at the Trinity Western Spartans athletic banquet last week (April 7).
The banquet was held at the Langley Events Centre.
Sclater, a graduating senior from the men’s volleyball team, won the Spartans male athlete of the year award, the male scholar athlete of the year and he was one of seven TWU athletes to earn the prestigious Complete Champion Award.
The final award is given to senior student-athletes who are outstanding in athletic achievements, who advance to the edge of their abilities both academically and personally, and who also demonstrate leadership and a desire to grow spiritually.
Also winning Complete Champion Awards were Langley’s Luca Schmidt (women’s basketball) and Ally Williamson (women’s soccer).
The other four winners were Scott Plocktis (men’s volleyball), Elly Wendel (women’s volleyball), Silas Matthys (men’s hockey) and Stephanie Chin (women’s soccer).
Another Langley student-athlete, Mark Antoniuk (men’s volleyball) won the school of business Spartan athlete award.

Regan Yee (women’s cross-country, track and field) — female athlete of the year.
Amy Gartke (women’s soccer), Jordan Koslowsky (men’s volleyball) and Lucas Hildebrand (men’s hockey) — Bahta Melles Award for servant leadership.
Elly Wendel (women’s volleyball) — female scholar athlete of the year.
Kristen Sakaki (women’s soccer) and Eric Loeppky (men’s volleyball) — rookie of the year.
Kayla Gordon (women’s basketball), Scott Plocktis (men’s volleyball) and Silas Matthys (men’s hockey) — Murray Hall Leadership Legacy Awards.
Natalie Carkner (women’s basketball) and Andrew Hicks (men’s soccer) — Human Kinetics Spartan athlete awards.
Kayla Gordon (women’s basketball) — School of Business Spartan athlete award.
Marissa Van Noort, who worked with women’s basketball, won the student therapy junior award and the senior award went to Sarah Koltun, who worked with women’s soccer and men’s hockey.
The Spartans also honoured departing strength and condition coach Andrew Heming, as well as departing assistant women’s volleyball coach Lies Reimer and departing assistant track and field coach Kim Chapdelaine.
The Spartans also honoured their graduating seniors in a special ceremony the night before.
