Season 18 of the Wells Gray Inn Poker Club has ended. Thirty-one different players took advantage of the free weekly poker game held each Wednesday. The game starts at 7 p.m. Each player collects points depending on finishing position each game for a three month time period which is termed a season. A tournament is held on the last Wednesday of each season with the top nine players participating.
Player standings for Season 18 are: Goldie Krawec 7700, Deb Watson 6650, Chris Moore 6600, Justin Morrison 6200, Linda Marriot 5150, John Gilchrist, 4600, Fred Roach 4600, Bob Daoust 4550, and Cody Hodges 4000. Point differences between second and fourth place was only 450 points, and positions six to eight with only a difference of 150 points.
Each evening of play the player who records the highest ranking hand with the tournament director is rewarded with a little gift plus 100 extra points. There is also an extra 100 points awarded to the player who takes out the bounty player. The bounty player is the player who won the game the previous week. There is also a weekly prize awarded.
Some of the memorable (good) hands played during this season were: AAAA, (Quad A’s or four of a Kind) three times with KKKK, followed by 7777, and 6666, in the Full House category we had AAAKK, AAAJJ, AAA44, QQQAA, 10 10 10 8 8 and the other best of the evening hand was an A high flush. This is only a short recap of the winning hands each week of play.
