A reminder that the second annual Parksville Pro/Am Skim Competition is fast approaching.

Slated for Parksville Bay on Saturday, July 6 from 9 a.m. to noon in front of the Beach Club, the competition is part of the Northwest Skim Tour and is the largest such competition on Vancouver Island.

According to co-organizer Julia Mountain, they will also be holding a Skim Camp for kids aged 8-14, “from beginners to intermediates,” July 2-4 from 9 a.m.-noon at the same spot.

To register call Julia at 250-752-3400.

Open to all ages with classes for amateurs and professionals, last year’s Pro/Am featured the best of the Vancouver Island riders against riders from the mainland, U.S. and as far away as Germany.

This year’s event will also include a fashion show from Bomb Bomb Bikinis as a special feature between the amateur and pro classes.
