The Selkirk College Saints began their exhibition season this past weekend with a home-and-home against the Eastern Washington University Eagles.
On Friday night in Cheney, Washington, Dallas Calvin scored the overtime winner to give the visiting Saints a 3-2 victory. On Saturday night at the Castlegar & District Recreation Centre, the Saints dominated the game from the opening whistle and came away with an 8-1 thrashing of the Eagles. Veteran Saints forward Derek Georgopoulos carries the puck up the ice in Saturday’s contest.
The Saints head east this weekend to tangle with a pair of Alberta teams when they take on Concordia University and Grant MacEwan University.
The Saints will then play host to Grand MacEwan on Sept. 29 and 30 (game time 7 p.m.) before starting the regular season on Oct. 6 against the Simon Fraser University Clan.
