Senior men’s team captures cash

Brian Scorer’s rink scored the most cash this season to capture the Mid-Island Co-op Senior Curling League championship.

Play wrapped up at the beginning of February, with Scorer and teammates George Duffell, Vic Uniat and Cliff King adding to their cash standings in skins-format curling. The team finished with $370 on the season, ahead of Graeme Cave’s team, which earned $325. Teaming with Cave were Bob Franklin, Eric McKean and Art Peck.Val Fenton, Bob Davies, Mike Starkey and Wally Funk finished third with $295.

Five of the league’s 10 teams had a shot at the title going into the final week, and the action lived up to the billing as three of the games carried over through the final end and had to be decided in a shootout.
