The Armstrong Shamrocks pulled the daily double in lacrosse play Friday night.

The Irish outlasted the host Kamloops Rattlers 8-6 in Okanagan Senior Lacrosse League action at Memorial Arena, while the Junior B Shamrocks grounded the South Okanagan Flames 14-11 at Nor-Val Sports Centre.

“It was a good bounce back game for us,” said senior Shamrock GM and goalie Chad Pieper. “We got the lead a minute into the game and kept it the whole game. The guys played a lot more disciplined than a week ago. Kas Boudreau ran another marathon all night and was rewarded with a couple of goals.”

The Rocks sit atop the three-team loop at 5-2, while the Rattlers dipped to 1-6. Armstrong lost 12-7 to the second-place Kelowna Raiders last Friday.

Jarrett Medhurst continued his league-leading scoring  pace with two goals as did former Senior A Nanaimo Timbermen Steve Clark. Medhurst has rang up 13 goals and 22 points in five games, three points ahead of Kelowna’s Luke Bailey.

Carston Schlaak and Kriss Yargeau supplied singles for the Rocks, who got two helpers from ageless captain Pat Nelson and Kyle Versteeg. Pieper made 53 saves and leads the league with a 7.6 goals against average.

Armstrong enjoyed period leads of 2-1 and 5-4. The Rocks took eight of 13 minor penalties. Mike Smith recorded 50 stops for Kamloops.

The Rocks entertained the Raiders Saturday night while holding a special reunion of former Shamrocks and Vernon Tigers from the 1950s and present day.

In the Junior B tilt, the Rocks parlayed four goals from Colby Erickson and 3+1 from Cole MacFarlane into their fourth victory in 11 starts.

Keith Minnis added 2+1 for Armstrong, while Austin Pugh had 1+3 and Sam Hanley earned 1+2. Brody Berg, Ben Painter and Austin Williamson also scored in support of Noah Bumstead (46 saves).
