Led by head coach Shane Beatty, the Okanagan Sun picked up six of the B.C. Football Conference’s major individual awards announced this week.
Beatty, the conference’s coach of the year recipient, led the Sun to a 9-1 record and the BCFC’s regular title.
Joining Beatty is Michele Vecchio, the second-year player out of Rutland, who was named the outstanding offensive lineman.
Alex Bradley, with 672 yards rushing, earned the outstanding offensive back honours.
The BCFC’s outstanding defensive back is the Sun’s Brennan Van Nistelrooy, who had 19 tackles, two sacks, two fumble recoveries and two interceptions.
Sun MVP Robbie Yochim was the named the conference’s outstanding special teams player. Yochim had 1,288 yards of combined kick and punt returns along with six return touchdowns.
He also shared the all-star returner award with Langley’s John Beckerleg.
