Shawnigan Hills parkrun No. 8 saw Teresa Lewis-Schneider finish with a new female record of 23:38, crossing the line at the same time as Ceevacs teammate Ben Marrs. The event welcomed six club runners and six first-timers, with eight of our regular runners recording personal best times.
Junior runners Frankie Swannell (29:27) and Katelyn O’Donnell (43:10) put in excellent performances, whilst our regular walkers Jackie De Jong, Greg Hamilton and Elaine Hamilton completed the event in just over an hour.
The first eight weeks have seen 89 different runners and walkers take part, completing a total of 965 km in the process. We look forward to seeing our 100th parkrunner soon.
Thanks must go to all the volunteers, especially our regular timekeepers Victoria Qiu and Ting Ting Hirantantisakun.
Register now at www.parkrun.ca/register. Walk, jog, run, volunteer or simply come and watch – it’s up to you. Be a part of the community, make new friends and socialize – we meet at Shawnigan Coffee House post-run after each event. It is a great way to start the weekend.
Next run: Saturday, Nov. 23 at 9 a.m.
