Shea Weber’s star continues to rise.

On Monday, the Nashville Predators’ team captain was named one of three finalists  for the James Norris Memorial Trophy.

Also in the running are Nicklas Lidstrom and Zdeno Chara, team captains of the Detroit Red Wings and the Boston Bruins, respectively.

The Norris trophy is awarded annually to the NHL’s defence player who demonstrates the greatest all-round ability throughout the season. Past recipients include legends Bobby Orr (eight times) and Doug Harvey (seven times). Lidstrom is a six-time recipient.

This season Weber, of Sicamous, tallied 16 wins and 32 assists in 82 games. He was third in total ice time. He finished the year with 48 points, putting him in 10th place among his fellow d-men.

The day before his nomination, Weber helped the Nashville Predators eliminate the Anaheim Ducks in Game 6 of their Western Conference quarterfinal.
