North Okanagan shooters showed well in the Honour’s Day Shoot at the North Okanagan Trap and Skeet Club on the Victoria Day Weekend.
‘It’s a shoot where where we honour members of influence of our club,” said director Lisa Salt. “We had a decent turnout with about 40 shooters, from B.C. and Alberta.”
Visitors claimed most of the A class awards but Les Lamerton of Armstrong managed second spot in the Preliminary Doubles A class by hitting 97 of 100 targets.
Gary Pomfrey of Kelowna took the Henry Rottacker Singles championship with 198, while Mike Noer of Armstrong won the A class at 195 and Hugh McWhirter of Vernon topped the C category at 187. Salt earned the Ladies’ title with 188.
Lisa’s father, Art Salt, 92, took the Senior Veterans title, at 196.
In the Rod MacIndoe Doubles, Gord Fowler of Vernon was runner-up at 92. Art Salt ruled the D class at 88, while Lamerton won the Vet division with a 94.
McWhirter won the Hank Dedidh Handicap Long Yardage crown with a 96.
Dave Wade claimed the Art Salt High Overall Trophy with 751/800 and the John Genier Handicap with a 95.
Grant Dolson won the Preliminary 16-Yard Singles event A class with a 98, taking honours by carryover after Darryl Webber and Dave Hesketh also shot 98. There were 31 entries.
The B class winner was Keely McQuarrie at 98, followed by Pat Bare, at 96, by carryover with Kerry Muster also producing a 96.
Burke Broadway of Salmon Arm won the C class at 94, while Brian Bowman took the D.
Wade, Gurjit Gakhal (A), Jim Hilchey (B), Les Madsen (C) and Bowman all earned HOA pins.
