Cowichan Lake Skating Club could be the one that you want.
The group is inviting the community is invited to come and enjoy the production of the Broadway rendition of Grease, on Friday, March 7 at 7 p.m. at the Cowichan Lake Sports Arena.
Admission is by donation for the 40-minute version of the popular movie musical.
Along with the Cowichan Lake Skating Club, coach and choreographer Lorraine Francisty is also bringing in the Duncanettes, a synchronized skating team from Duncan,to perform for the audience.
Almost all of the 50 skaters in club — from age three to 14 — will be on the ice “showcasing the skills that they have learned,” said volunteer instructor and the club’s treasurer Sarah Darling.
“Kids will be in costume made by parents and me,” said Darling. “Nothing [is] that snazzy for decorations but we did get 50 old records for decorations.”
The show does mark the end of the season for the skating club and gives the skaters the opportunity to show off to family, friends, and the entire community the improvements the they have made over the season.
In the lead roles are Brooklyn Kruk as Rizzo and Morgan Shyshka playing Sandra Dee.
“We will have a Huck a Puck and a 50/50. The show will be followed by a quick awards ceremony to acknowledge students.” Darling added.
Dave Darling, who is the chair of Cowichan Lake Recreation, will be the emcee.”
Pre-registration for the club will begin in August for the new season commencing in September.
