The Skeena Junior girls B team took the zone title Nov. 11 in a tournament at Thornhill Junior Secondary school.
The Wildcats won all of their games in the round robin, sending them into the semi-finals to meet up against the Smithers Gryphons.
This is where the team was very triumphant explained coach Carmen Didier, noting the girls came back from a three point disadvantage, ending the game 16 – 14.
In the finals, Skeena took on Thornhill Junior in a best out of three scenario, winning the first two games and the B Zone title.
Didier said one of the neat things about the team this year is there was no first or second squad, meaning both lines of players were equal in terms of talent, skill and play time.
“It’s just a testament to the skill level of the girls that we had 12 strong girls on the team and we utilized them all to win,” Didier said.
The tournament MVP went to Skeena’s Brooklyn Ruffle.
