Skiers turning to bikes for fitness

100 Mile Ladies Biking group pedalling the local trails

Skiing is over, and a number of women are ready to get the Ladies Biking group up and pedalling.

Last year, it tended to rain on bike days, group member Lauren Bock says, adding she hopes there will be sunny weather this year.

“All fitness levels and abilities are welcome. We will bike the ski trails and 108 Lake, so no special skills are required.”

There will be two ladies bike groups, she explains.

On Mondays at 6 p.m., there will be a group for those who are more comfortable with single-track biking and are reasonably fit.

On Thursdays at 5 p.m., there will be a group for ladies who prefer an easier ride on the wider ski trails. This is a great group for those who have recently started biking.

Both groups meet at the 108 Heritage Site parking lot and everyone is welcome.

The group with the experienced riders starts tomorrow (May 10) at 5 p.m.

Noting this is not a 100 Mile Nordic sanctioned group, but just a fun group to join other ladies who like to bike, Bock says riders will bike at their own risk.
