A Nanaimo rec softball league is getting ready to throw the first slow pitch of spring.
The Nanaimo Adult Recreational Slo-pitch League holds registration next Tuesday and Thursday, April 17 and 19, with the season to begin April 24.
The league is always looking for players and is open to women aged 45 and over and men 50 and over.
“We don’t keep standings. It’s competitive, but not crazy. Once the game’s over, it’s over. It’s really to have fun,” said John Annesley, one of the players.
Everybody gets a turn to play and everybody gets a turn to bat; running is optional.
The season runs until the end of September and games go every Tuesday and Thursday morning at the McGirr Sports Fields. Cost for the season is $80 to play twice a week, or $45 to play once a week.
Next week’s registration times are 9:30 a.m. both days, with pick-up games to follow. For more information, call 250-755-7052.
