Storm Spackman made a buzzer-beating two pointer and scored eight points, giving sixth-seed EMCS Wolverines a 61-60 win over third-seed Reynolds Roadrunners Monday night in the opening round of the South Island 3A senior boys’ high school basketball playoffs.
The Wolverines (2-4) were up by five points with 1:40 left on the clock in the fourth quarter, and then got into foul trouble with Reynolds (5-1) jumping ahead 60-59 with five seconds remaining. The Wolverines fouled again, but Reynolds missed both shots.
On the inbound play, Ike Batten fed the ball to Spackman who made his way down the court and scored from the top of the key at the buzzer.
