Midget — Rep action continued this past weekend with a home game Saturday against Alberni Valley.
Jared Pleasants opened the scoring for Sooke in the first with assist from Tom Kirk. Nick Dueck remained strong in net with help from his defence including Brandon Cornbill and Brendan David.
Later in the first, Nick Pfeifer assisted Jared Pleasants for his second goal making it Sooke 2, Port Alberni 0.
Midway in the second, Alberni scored with the man advantage. With Sooke having several players out on injury, AP players Michael Turcotte and Dallin Madill saw several chances on net for Sooke, but it was Tom Kirk early in the third who scored unassisted to make it 3–1.
Port Alberni kept the pressure on and again, on the power play, found a way past Nick in net bringing them within one. Midway in the third, nice passing from Braden Swaile and Nick Pfeifer helped Jared Pleasants bring it home for Sooke’s final goal. Sooke 4, Port Alberni 2.
Sundays game in Kerry Park found Sooke light on the bench, but working hard to stay in the game.
The first period had the home team ahead by four goals. Jared Pleasants scored for Sooke in the second, but Kerry Park came back with two more making it 6–1 after two periods.
The third period was just as tough, with many power play opportunities for the opponents, and the final score Kerry Park 9, Sooke 1.
Bantam — A solid effort by the bantam C boys this past weekend.
Saturday saw them at Peninsula against the boys C major team, but despite good team play and outstanding goaltending by Taylor Haisell, they weren’t able to overcome a strong Peninsula team to get on the score board.
Sunday’s game against South Island Royals girls’ team was a good match that had the Bantam boys’ captain Dryden Alexander put up a hat trick with both shorthanded and power play goals.
Assisting him were Bradley Staicu and Chadwick Mason. The girls matched each goal and the game ended in a tie.
Peewee (girls) — The peewee girls played against Victoria on Saturday Nov. 5 at Archie Browning Arena
After the first period, the team of coach Steve were behind by one goal to make the score 2-1 Victoria (goal by Olivia Carello).
It was in the third period that everything changed. Alyssa Lloyd equalized the score 2-2 and then Olivia Carello scored the winning goal for the Sooke peewee girls.
It was a tight game, but effort, determination and hard work paid off.
Atom (1) — The boys beat the Kerry Park Islanders 7-4 in a briskly-paced game on Saturday. William Couture was turbo charged with two goals resulting from his many chances.
Finley Arthurs also scored two for Sooke in this matchup. Blake Reymerink, John Richardson and Ben Ackinclose each had a goal and an assist.
The Sunday meeting with the Saanich Braves resulted in a 0-5 loss and some bumps and bruises.
Still, there were some great passes and play making from Braydon Blyth and Ben Ackinclose to create strong rushes.
(C2) -— The Sooke atom C2 boys played two exhibition games on the weekend against the Juan de Fuca Grizzlies and Peninsula Eagles.
In the first game, Sooke came out on top with a great team effort 8-4. Contributing to the score sheet were Thomas Lowerison (2), Drew Mazar (2), Mercer Balzer (2), Noah Hamilton and Malcolm Isaac.
In the second game, Sooke dominated the Peninsula team with a 7-0 shut out by Matthew Ryan and a hat trick from Drew Mazar. Also scoring were Ian MacDonald, Austin Adrian and Thomas Lowerison.
